Obituary

Funeral services for Mrs. Williams will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 21, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with the Rev. John Epperson, pastor of the Grinnell Christian Church, officiating. Organist will be Kathleen McCune. Pallbearers will be David and Dusty Albertson, Shawn Doehler, Dan and Marvin Kriegel, and Jermey, Matthew and Nicholas Williams. Burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association. The daughter of Edgar and Opal Troxell Winchester, she was born March 23, 1931, in Monticello, Kentucky. She later moved with her family to the Rock Creek area where she spent her childhood and where she received her education in a rural school near her home. She was married to Raymond C. Williams June 25, 1950, in Grinnell. The couple made their home in Kellogg and Oskaloosa prior to moving to Grinnell in 1954. She was employed with the Grinnell Shoe Factory, Maid-Rite and the White Spot Caf'. From 1965 until her retirement in 1993, she was employed at the Longhorn Restaurant. Survivors include three daughters, Marla Kriegel, Mary Albertson, and Darla Byers, all of Grinnell; four sons, Ron of Kellogg, Gary of Richland Center, Wisconsin, Larry of Des Moines, and Randy of Cumming; twenty grandchildren; and thirty great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1993; and three great-grandchildren, Hailey Jo, Tyler, and Kaylee.
