Memorial services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2007 at the Carman Center of the Mayflower Home and then 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2007 at the Lebanon United Methodist Church in Lebanon. Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Mayflower Health Care Center Activity Fund. Pauline McNabb of Grinnell, Iowa, daughter of Raymond and Birdie Scott Randolph, was born March 29, 1920 at Bonaparte, Iowa and departed this life on June 5, 2007 at the age of 87. Pauline attended Centennial Rural School at Mt Sterling, Iowa, and graduated from Bonaparte High School in 1937. She married Verne Elbert Watson of Stockport, Iowa on April 8, 1942. To this union was born a son, Vincent J. Watson. Verne was killed on a construction project at Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1947. Pauline worked at the Selective Service Board in Keosauqua, Iowa, where she met her second husband. On August 7, 1949 she married Kenneth LaVerne McNabb of Troy, Iowa. They lived on a farm north of Milton, Iowa. To this union five children were born: Kathy Jo McNabb Szary, Randy Lee McNabb, Michael Gregory McNabb, Timothy Jon McNabb, and Kevin LaVerne McNabb. Pauline was a member of the United Methodist Church at Lebanon, Iowa and served on the Mission Board. She was an active Farm Bureau member and for several years she was the Van Buren County Women's Farm Bureau Chairman. She was also very involved with her childrens' many 4-H projects. In September 1993 Pauline purchased an efficiency apartment and moved to the Mayflower Home in Grinnell, Iowa. Her life was enriched in so many ways at the Mayflower and she never had a dull moment from that point on in her life. She was chair of the Mini-Gift Shop, hall host, served on the Chapel Committee, Flower Garden Committee, Stamp Clippers, and enjoyed many Monday nights of Trivial Pursuit with fellow Mayflower residents. Pauline also delivered flowers and mail at Grinnell Regional Medical Center along with numerous volunteer activities there. She was a member of the Grinnell State Bank Heritage Club and enjoyed travel adventures with the Club throughout the United States. Her passions were her family, tending the beautiful flower gardens at the Mayflower, sewing, and quilting. She is survived by her children Vincent, Kathy, Randy, Michael, and Kevin, 12 grandchildren, one great grandchild, one step great grandchild, her sisters Catherine Balmer and Genevieve Runyon of Bloomfield, and many wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Verne Watson and Kenneth McNabb, and her son Timothy.
