Paula Jean Forsyth Peak, 89, of Grinnell, IA passed away peacefully at her home, Saturday, June 8, 2024.

Paula was born on September 9, 1934 in Colfax, IA to Paul and Josephine Coon Forsyth. Her family then relocated to Des Moines, IA after her dad got a new job.
Paula attended the Smouse Opportunity School until she was 13 years old. She then attended the Iowa School for the Deaf in Council Bluffs, IA. Paula joined the workforce as a typist for Farmers Mutual Insurance Co. She proudly worked for Farmers Mutual for over 43 years, and was given multiple awards of dedication by Farmers Mutual at her retirement party in 1999.
On April 30, 1977 Paula was united in marriage to Dale Peak at the Calvary Lutheran Church for the deaf in Des Moines.
Paula loved crafting, attending craft shows, cooking, and collecting cook books. She enjoyed sewing, and travelling. One of her favorite road trips was driving through the Western part of the US in 2008, seeing family and friends along the way. Paula was active in the deaf community. She looked forward to the Marshalltown Deaf picnic and was a member of the Deaf Camping Club.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Dale Peak of Grinnell; her siblings, sisters, Pat Dressic and Susan Conrath, plus many nieces and nephews.
Paula is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Josephine Forsyth; her brothers John and Ronnie and two nieces.
Celebration of Life to be held, 3:30 PM, June 29, 2024 at Seeland Park St. Francis Manor Social Center, on St. Francis Drive. Family will greet friends for a visitation prior to the service beginning at 2:00 PM. Private family burial will be held at a later date.
