Paul was born on March 3, 1943, in Grinnell, Iowa to Paul and Leona Shedenhelm Strovers. He was raised in Grinnell and graduated from Grinnell High School with the Class of 1961. In July of 1961 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for twenty years. He also received a BA degree in Industrial Engineering from San Diego State University. Following his discharge from the Navy in 1981 he worked in San Diego working on military projects for the Defense Department as a civilian. He was married to Andrea Blankenfeld on September 25, 1966, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Grinnell and to this union was born two sons, Brian and Lance. He returned to Grinnell in early June to spend his final days under the care of Grinnell Regional Hospice. He is survived by his wife, Andrea Strovers of Chula Vista, California; two sons, Brian (Cathy) Strovers of California City, CA and Dr. Lance (Melissa) Strovers of Grinnell; five grandchildren; his father, Paul Strovers of Grinnell; two sisters, Cathy Wehrman of Belle Plaine, IA and Karen Strovers of Grinnell, IA; and four brothers, Evan Strovers of San Jose, California, Dennis Strovers of Centerton, Arkansas, Richard Strovers of Milford, Connectcut and Nick Strovers of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
