Patti Pedersen, 67, of Grinnell died on January 25, 2022, at UnityPoint Iowa Methodist Hospital, in Des Moines. A Celebration of Life service has been scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 7th, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. Private burial will be held at Westfield Cemetery, south of Grinnell. Visitation with the Pedersen family present will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 6th, at the Smith Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be designated to Poweshiek Animal League (PALS). Her service will be Live-streamed on the Smith Funeral Home and Crematory Facebook page beginning 15 minutes prior to service time. Patti was born on October 18, 1954, in Grinnell, the daughter of John Donald and Ruth Pickett Dimit. She was raised in Grinnell and was a 1972 graduate of Grinnell High School. She lived in Grinnell her entire life and liked to consider herself a "lifer!" On March 12, 1987, she was united in marriage to Kyle Pedersen, in Grinnell. Patti was employed at various places in the Grinnell area including working at St. Francis Manor for 14 years. The job that was most rewarding was working at Northside Vet Clinic. Her favorite life experience was when she and Kyle lived on the farm north of Grinnell. They lived on the farm for 10 years and she was in charge of the swine operation. She loved her pigs, sheep, and chickens and had given names for most of her animals. She loved all her animals she worked with and her pets. Patti enjoyed gardening and canning her produce, and all her flowers. She loved the outdoors, fishing, cooking, antiquing and attending Flea Markets. She was an avid reader, including books on religion, astrology, history, and science. She was a member of the Farm Bureau. She is survived by her husband, Kyle of Grinnell; her sister, Judy Criswell of Grinnell; and many nieces and nephews, on both sides of her family. She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother-in-law, Bernard "Curly" Criswell; and a nephew, Randy Criswell.
