Patrick Martin Lynch, 65, of Phoenix and formerly of Grinnell, passed away peacefully at his home Aug 19, 2011, after a long illness. A memorial gathering will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, October 13, in the Pioneer Room at the Grinnell College Glove Factory Building. Patrick was born May 20, 1946, at the Community Hospital in Grinnell, the son of Ben Wesley and Retha Mae Beason Lynch. He attended Grinnell schools and was a member of the Grinnell High School Class of 1964. On October 5, 1963, he was united in marriage to Doris Ann Audas at the North Side Friends Church in Grinnell. To this union two children, Tony Lee Lynch and Todd Patrick Lynch, were born. He was later married to Becky Tjarks Knot of Iowa Falls and they had a son, Nathan. Another son, Christopher Lynch-Foster was born to Patrick and Marie Norem. Pat spent the last 30 years in Phoenix having a long career in the maintenance and electrical fields. He loved growing up in Grinnell and would spend a lot of his time at his Grandma and Grandpa Beason's home. He later moved to Marshalltown, where he lived for many years and where three of his sons graduated high school. Pat was an avid pool player and loved to play golf and fish. He spent many hours, trout fishing with his sons, Tony and Todd while they were young. He enjoyed playing Texas Holdem at local restaurants around the Phoenix area. He is survived by his children, Tony Lynch of Avondale, Arizona, Todd Lynch of Marshalltown and Christopher and Ashley Foster of Ankeny; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Helen Cook, Jim Lynch, Mike Lynch, Jane Wright and Bill and Norma Lynch. He was preceded in death by his son, Nathan, who passed away at the age of 8 months and 20 days; his parents, Ben and Retha Lynch; his grandparents, Floyd and Lena Beason, and William and Susie Woods Lynch; and three special in-laws, Stan Wright, Bud Wright, and Peggy Lynch.
