Patricia Ann Toland Svec, 84, of Kellogg, IA passed away on December 27, 2025.

Patricia was born on July 20, 1941, in Newton, IA to Ralph and Ruth (Giles) Toland. Alongside her brother, Joseph, they grew up in Newton. Her family owned Toland Funeral Home in Newton. While in high school she worked for The Capitol Theatre in Newton. Patricia graduated from Newton High School with the class of 1959. Following high school, she attended Simpson College before transferring to Drake University where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She was a member of the Tri Delta sorority at Simpson. Following college, she worked as an art teacher in Kenosha, WI, before moving to California.

In 1964, Patricia was united in marriage to Rudolph Svec III in Hollywood, CA. To this union the couple had Rudolph "Jay" Joseph Svec IV. In California, she worked for Blue Cross & Blue Shield. After her divorce, Patricia moved back to Newton and took a job as an art teacher in the Newton school district. She spent most of her professional career working as a freelance artist.

Patricia enjoyed art, reading, and later books on tape, and going out to eat. She had a special relationship with her son Jay, in which they talked every day on the phone. She was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church of Newton, then later she attended Kellogg United Methodist Church. She was a member of the TTT club of Newton, the CW club, the League of Women's Voters, and she volunteered for Domestic Violence Alternatives.

She is survived by her son, Jay of Boulder, CO.

She is preceded by her parents, Ralph and Ruth, and her brother, Joseph Toland.

The family will be having a memorial service at a future date.
