Warren was born on November 11, 1933, in Malcom, the son of Raymond and Florence Smith Wiley. He attended country school at the age of 4 near Forest Home and later attended school in Grinnell. He was a 1951 graduate of Grinnell High School.

After his graduation, he was employed for several years at Miracle Recreation in Grinnell. He was a veteran of the United States Army, post Korean War, and was honorably discharge, as a Sergeant, in 1961.

On September 4, 1959, he was united in marriage with Rachel “Carolyn” Jones, in Grinnell. The couple continued to make their home in Grinnell and for many years Warren was employed as a route driver with ARA Services.

Warren was a regular attendee of the Grinnell First Baptist Church where he was a Senior High Youth Leader and usher.

Warren held a strong love for his family and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s activities. He took care of the family farm and helped his brother-in-law with his farm. He knew the value of hard work and instilled his work ethic to his family. He was a help to others, and gave a lot of second chances to the people that rented from him. He enjoyed going to auctions and would say, “You never know what treasure might be in a two dollar box!” There was not a hubcap that he didn’t like; he would pick them up along the road while on his work route. Warren owned many cars and his love for cars turned into fixing what he had. He was a “Ford man!” He also enjoyed fixing lawn mowers, playing pool with his family and friends and held a love for cats.

He is survived by his son, Doug (Kelly) Wiley of Pella; three grandchildren, Shawn Wiley, Rachel (Tyler) Parker, and David Wiley, all of Pella; two great-grandchildren, Merrick and Emmitt Parker of Pella; two brothers, Jack (Janet) Wiley of Bonner Springs, Kansas and Clyde (Mary) Wiley of Newton; and one sister, Joyce Rieman of Oskaloosa. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carolyn in 1986; and two sisters, Dorothy Strong and Norma Harris.
