Nyta Lemke, 65, of Malcom died January 23, 2008, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 26, at the Grinnell Christian Church with the Rev. John Epperson officiating. Pallbearers will be Walter Bond, Earl Davis, Arthur, Randy, and Richard Ervin, Larry Hoch, Bill and Earl Lemke. Burial will be in Ivy Hill Cemetery in Malcom. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Nyta Lemke Memorial Fund. The daughter of John Earl and Edna Marietta Foran Ervin, Nyta was born July 11, 1942, in Numa, Iowa. She was raised in several communities prior to moving to Grinnell where she attended high school. On September 7, 1959, she was married to Albert Lee Lemke, in Montezuma. The couple made their home in Grinnell and later moved to Malcom in 1973. She kept busy in her home and raising her family. She was a member of the Grinnell Christian Church, where she was baptized, the Moose Lodge in Newton, and the Motorcycle Retreads. Nyta was very devoted to her family and enjoyed sharing her time with her grandchildren. She often stated that a family is the most important thing in the world and she made a point to get along with everybody. While her grandchildren were growing up and active in sports she never missed a game, she was a loyal fan of the Montezuma Braves. She loved the outdoors, fishing, golfing, and tending to her flower garden. She enjoyed collecting angels and riding with her husband on their Gold Wing motorcycle. Survivors include one daughter, Victoria Lemke of Malcom; her mother, Edna Foran of Grinnell; two grandchildren, D.J. Davis and Lance Little of Malcom; two sisters, Jeraldine Bond of Malcom and Mary Ervin of Grinnell; and two brothers, Richard 'Red' Ervin and Arthur 'Rusty' Ervin of Tama. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; her father; one sister, Eleanor 'Sissy' Davis; and one brother, Earl Ervin.
