Obituary

Nancy R. Wolff, 80, of Grinnell, passed away on August 1, 2022, at UnityPoint Grinnell Regional Medical Center. A celebration of life service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 5, at Grinnell U.C.C. – Congregational with Pastor Jessica Margrave Schirm officiating. Organists will be Ken Davis and John Rommerein. Vocalist will be Erin Bustin. Honorary bearers will be Kathryn and Peter Wolff, Brenna Carlson, and Brock and Brett Mulder. A private family burial will be held later that day at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be designated to Grinnell U.C.C. - Congregational or Mayflower Community Human Needs Fund. Nancy was born on February 14, 1942, in Grinnell, the daughter of George Alvin and Clara (Byam) Brown. She was raised in Grinnell and was a 1960 graduate of Grinnell High School. She received a B.S. degree in Home Economics and later a M.S. degree in Family Financial Counseling, both at Iowa State University. For 20 years, Nancy lived in Bartlesville, Oklahoma area, where she was very active with the youth in the community. She made meals for various youth groups, a scout leader for both Cub and Boy Scouts, and a soccer coach for her kid's teams. While a member of the Good Shepard Presbyterian Church in Bartlesville she was involved with the Day Care program and taught Sunday school. She participated with Concern, a non-profit organization which involved a mission of churches united for community concern, where she was a volunteer coordinator and did executive work. She was a member of League of Women Voters, serving two terms as president and PEO. She was a Financial Aid Director at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa for 10+ years. After returning to Grinnell and living at the Mayflower Community, she served on the Mayflower Library committee, the Grinnell High School Alumni Association, and served on the board of Take Away Hunger. She was a member of the Grinnell U.C.C.-Congregational. From 2001 to 2007, she was a data analyst at Iowa Telecom. Nancy loved Hallmark movies, solving puzzles, reading, and her cat, Mr. Snuggles. She is survived by two children, Kevin (Carolyn) Wolff of Cedar Falls and Karen (Christopher) Brinkley of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren, Kathryn and Peter Wolff, Brenna Carlson, and Brock and Brett Mulder; one sister, Diane (Paul) Harrington of Mt. Vernon; and two brothers, Greg (Mercedes) Brown of Grinnell and Douglas Brown of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Judith Brown.
