Naomi was born March 2, 1929, in Wood River, Illinois, the daughter of Horace Chilton and Flossie Irene Kindle Dean. She was raised in Wood River and was a 1947 graduate of East Alton Wood River High School. She attended Central Bible Institute in Springfield, Missouri and later Alton Business School in Alton, Illinois. On August 24, 1951, she was united in marriage with Rev. Samuel H. Reaves in Wood River, Illinois. The couple lived in several communities in Missouri, Wyoming, Illinois and Iowa prior to moving to Grinnell in 1968. They moved to Seymour, Iowa in 1992 and she later moved to Montezuma. Naomi taught piano lessons and sign language for nearly 20 years and retired in 2003. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church. Naomi was devoted to God and her family; she cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed attending their school and church activities. She particularly loved watching her granddaughter's fast-pitched softball games. She loved watching sports on TV and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. Music was very important in her life; she was an excellent musician, enjoyed teaching piano lessons and had written a few hymns. She loved animals and caring for them and held a passion for crocheting and cross stitching. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, cross-word puzzles, playing board and Rook card games. Many will remember her for being a classy woman!
