Martha Anderson Hall, 85, of Knoxville and formerly of Grinnell, died on Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at Manor Care Health Center in West Des Moines. A memorial gathering with the family will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2015, at Manor Care Health Center, 5010 Grand Ridge Drive, West Des Moines. Burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Mercy Hospice and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. Martha was born on June 14, 1930, near Glenwood, Missouri to Ardie and Jettie Minear Anderson. The family moved to Grinnell, Iowa and she graduated from Grinnell High School with the Class of 1948. On June 19, 1948, she was married to Robert F. Hall at her parent's home near Grinnell. The couple lived in Rochester, Minnesota and later moved to Knoxville. Martha was a homemaker and mother of three daughters. She enjoyed bowling, ceramics, gardening and cooking. Survivors include her husband, Robert F. Hall of Knoxville; her three daughters, Connie Harris of Des Moines, Diane (Joe) Varner and Elaine (Lyle) Baumgarten, all of Knoxville; seven grandchildren, Magan S. Schwartz, Dylan H. Harris, Ryan A. Varner, Chad L. Varner, Trisha L. Varner, Ashley E. Miksell and Derek L. Baumgarten; nine great grandchildren; and one brother, Bill Anderson of Milan, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Richard Anderson
