Marie A. Lender, 88 of Grinnell, Iowa died May 10, 2015, at the Mayflower Community Health Care Center.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 15th, at Calvary Baptist Church in Grinnell with Pastor Miles Grismore officiating. Organist will be Deb Lombard and vocalist will be Craig Lombard. Pallbearers will be Ryan Greiner, Jared, Joel and Grant Lender, Adam Jacobsen and Adam Walsh. Burial will be in the Sully Cemetery.
Visitation with the family present will be held one hour prior to service time at the church.

Marie was the daughter of Andrew Versendaal and Johanna Geenen Versendaal and was born on October 6, 1926, rural Kellogg. She grew up in the Sully area and was a graduate of Sully High School. She was employed as a bookkeeper at the Co-op in Sully.
Marie was married to Darrell G. Lender on November 1, 1952, at the Christian Reformed Church in Sully. Following their marriage the couple lived briefly in Michigan prior to moving to Cedar Rapids where they were employed at Collins Radio Company. The couple later moved to the Searsboro area and in 1979, they moved to Grinnell. For 27 years, she was employed at St. Francis Manor, retiring at the age of 86.
Marie always enjoyed the farm life! She enjoyed working in the outdoors, tending to her garden and canning her produce. She raised an acre of strawberry's every year and thoroughly enjoyed sharing what she raised. Cooking and baking were a few of her qualities.
Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy "Dot" (John) Latcham and Joan (Louie) Terlouw; one brother, Adrian (Kathy) Versendaal; and most of all, her children: Darla (Ed) Greiner of Cedar Rapids, Daniel (Cindy) Lender of St. Louis, Missouri, Delmar (Ellen) Lender of Grinnell and Duane Lender of rural Johnston; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two step great-children. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Darrell; one sister, Matilda "Tillie" (Clarence) Van Sant; and one brother, Arie Joe, who died in infancy.
