Brenda Farrell, 65, of Grinnell, died on Monday, January 19, 2015, at the home of her daughter in Grinnell. A memorial service will be held 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Rev. John Epperson officiating. Inurnment will be at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell at a later date. Should friends desire, memorials may be directed to the Brenda Farrell Memorial Fund and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. She was born on September 19, 1949, in Grinnell to Floyd and Harriette Cooper Hauersperger. She was raised in Grinnell and graduated from Grinnell High School. Following high school she attended a cosmetology college in Iowa City, Iowa. On December 26, 1968, she was married to William Farrell in Grinnell. The couple lived in Grinnell and she was a beautician serving residents of Friendship Manor and St. Francis Manor in Grinnell. Prior to her retirement she worked as a custodian for Grinnell College. Brenda was a faithful member of the former Assembly of God Church in Grinnell, where she taught Sunday school and enjoyed activities with the women's fellowship of the church. She also assisted with Camp Fire activities with her daughters. Her hobbies included crocheting, sewing, cooking and singing. Survivors include her husband, William Farrell of Grinnell; two daughters, Angie Sholley and Yvonne Farrell-Damico, both of Grinnell; two granddaughters, Hayley and Ashley Sholley, both of Grinnell; one great grandson, Kasen Sholley of Grinnell; many foster grandchildren; her brother, David (Janna) Hauersperger of Grinnell; her aunt, Lillian (Lil) Cooper; and her niece, Lynne Wise. She was preceded in death by her parents.
