Asenath "Senie" Taylor, 87, of Grinnell, died on Monday, September 10, 2012, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be held in Greenfield, Indiana with inurnment in the Mount Lebanon Cemetery in Greenfield. A memorial gathering will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church in Grinnell. Senie was born on July 1, 1925, in Greenfield, Indiana to Edwin and Nellie Scott Cooney. She was raised in Greenfield and graduated from Greenfield High School with the Class of 1943. She spent most of her life in Greenfield and was employed as a mortgage officer at the Greenfield Banking Company. Senie was married to J. Douglass Horine for 32 years and to this union was born three children. Following Doug's death she was married to Milton E. Glascock and they were married for 20 years. In 2002, she was married to Harry Taylor. The couple spent summers in Grinnell, Iowa and they wintered in Edinburgh, Texas. She was always active in church having grown up in the United Brethren in Christ Church and later baptized by the Rev. Cyrus Herod in the Greenfield Christian Church. She most recently joined the First Christian Church of Mission, Texas. Music was Senie's main theme of her life and she sang in numerous choirs, the ladies quartet "the Quakerettes" and a ladies trio, "the Lord's Chords". She served as director of several choirs. For many years she traveled and gave vocal concerts and led hymn-fests in campgrounds. Senie was active in the Order of Eastern Star and served as Past Matron of the Miriam Chapter, Past Deputy of District Six of the Indiana Grand Chapter. At the time of her death she was a member of the Anderson Chapter #154 of Eastern Star. She is survived by her husband, Harry Taylor of Grinnell; her children, K. Denise (Dennis) Rohring and Mark (Angela) Horine, both of Greenfield and Joseph R. Horine of Carthage, Indiana; three step-daughters, Deborah (C.A.) Tondre, Kimberly (Michael) Staudt and Jennifer (Paul) Ramirez; 16 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; one brother, Dr. Jerald (Joan) Cooney of Springfield, MO, three sisters-in-law, Phyllis Cooney, Rosenell Cooney and Victoria Cooney; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends. Senie was preceded in death by two husbands, Douglass Horine and Milton Glascock; her parents; four brothers, Joseph, James, Jack and Jan; and two step grandsons.
