Matthew John Steinmetz was born September 24, 1976, in Marengo, Iowa, to Joel Henry Steinmetz and Kathleen Marie (Joyce) Steinmetz and was raised on the family farm near Victor, where he learned the values of hard work, faith, and service that would guide him throughout his life.

Matt attended St. John's Lutheran School and graduated from HLV High School with the Class of 1995. He continued his education at North Iowa Area Community College and Kirkwood before earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in Agronomy from Iowa State University.

On September 22, 2001, Matt was united in marriage to Carrie Lynn Klein at St. John's Lutheran Church south of Victor. Together they made their home on the family farm, where they raised their two sons, John and Brian, and built a life rooted in love, faith, and community.

Matt worked tirelessly throughout his life—hauling grain for area farmers, working as a rural mail carrier, working as a concrete contractor, servicing machinery, and farming. He was known for his reliability, his willingness to lend a hand, and his deep commitment to the people around him.

A man of strong faith and unwavering devotion to his family, Matt found joy in attending his sons' activities and coaching their youth baseball teams. He loved cooking, family gatherings, and the simple pleasure of tending to his garden and canning the harvest. He and Carrie cherished their time spent riding together on their motorcycle, enjoying the open road and

each other's company.

Matt was a friend to many—steady, generous, and always ready to help. His presence was a blessing to those who knew him, and his legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched.

Matt is survived by his wife, Carrie Steinmetz; his sons, John Steinmetz and Brian Steinmetz; his parents, Joel and Kathy Steinmetz; his siblings, Justin (Sarah) Steinmetz and Melissa (Jonathan) Wheeler; father-in-law and mother-in-law Alan (Mary) Klein, sister-in-law Jennifer(Matt) Boyer and his nieces and nephews along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
