Matthew Barnes, 33, of Grinnell, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 11,

2022.

Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, January 22, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Grinnell

Eagles Club.

Memorials may be designated to the Matthew Barnes Children's Fund and mailed in

Matthew Lynn Barnes was born the son of Walter and Marietta (Delk) Barnes on August

6, 1989 in Grinnell, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Grinnell.

Matthew actively enjoyed watching football, being outdoors, wrenching on a vehicle,

playing video games and spending time with his children and family. He was a

Green Bay Packers fan his whole life.

Matthew will always be remembered as a loving father, for his huge heart of gold, his

creative mind, how much he liked to laugh, his raunchy sense of humor and

inappropriate jokes, which he inherited from his father. He never failed to make you

laugh! He enjoyed helping others and all of his children/family were VERY important to

him.

Matthew is survived by his father, Walter Barnes of Grinnell; mother, Marietta Barnes of

Grinnell; fiancée, Jaimee Lynn Stevenson of Grinnell; three children, Riley Barnes (11),

Jo Lynn Barnes (9), and Mason Barnes (2); three step-children, Ryleigh Stevenson (18),

Haylei Routier (17), and Kahlyr Stevenson (14); brother, Nathan Barnes of Grinnell; and

many extended family members.
