Mary Lacaeyse, 70, of Grinnell, died on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Rev. Jim Dotson officiating. Interment will be in Ivy Hill Cemetery in Malcom. A reception will follow at the Malcom Legion.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm on Friday at the Smith Funeral Home and her family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm.

Mary Madeline Myers was born on February 7, 1951 in Grinnell, Iowa to Samuel and Vivian (Courtney) Myers. She was raised in Malcom and attended Brooklyn-Guernsey-Malcom schools in Brooklyn.
Following her education, Mary worked at her mother's restaurant, Village Inn in Malcom. Mary was united in marriage to Gene Francis Lacaeyse on September 2, 1983 in Grinnell. They lived south of Grinnell and together they operated G.F. Lacaeyse Transport in Grinnell for the last 40 years.
Mary dearly loved her family and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren. She loved having family gatherings at her home and she would prepare the best food for her family to enjoy. Her enjoyments were playing Bingo, going shopping, playing video games by herself and with her grandchildren, going on Gator rides, mushroom hunting, and watching TV shows such as Court TV, Dateline, and QVC shopping network.
Mary is survived by her husband of 43 years, Gene Lacaeyse of Grinnell; her children, Kelly (Don) Eden of Centreville, VA, Tim (Kristine) Kibbee of Grinnell, and Josh (Julie) Lacaeyse of Grinnell; 4 grandchildren, Sam, Madelyn, and Max Kibbee, and Delaney Lacaeyse; and her siblings, Carol Vecera of Bartonville, IL, Diane Farrell of Claremont, CA, and Stacy (Harlan) Heinen of Montezuma, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Sammie Huntington.
