SMITH FUNERAL HOME In Memoriam: Mary Louise Keenan Dusterhoft was born May 5, 1906 to James and Mary Keenan in rural Grinnell. She was raised on the family farm near Lynnville and educated in Grinnell. Mary graduated with Grinnell High School class of 1924. Mary began working for Swift and Company following her education. She was united in marriage to Clarence Dusterhoft on February 12, 1929 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grinnell. To their marriage of over fifty-one years, two sons, George and Steven, and two daughters, Mary Aliene and Marguerite, were born. Following their marriage they established their home on the family farm south of Victor where they resided until 1954 when they moved into Victor. Mary and Clarence retired from farming and continued to reside in Victor. She worked for Rohrer Brothers in Victor as a bookkeeper during this time. She was an active member of the St. Bridget Altar and Rosary Society. Her family described her as an excellent cook, who would always leave an extra plate on the table just in case. She also spent her time gardening, while enjoying her favorite rose flower. She was well known for her delicate and arduous process of tatting. Her family will remember her as a special and loving mother and grandmother. Mary is survived by her son, George and his wife Norma Dusterhoft of Cape Coral, Florida; her daughters, Mary Aliene Sadler and her husband Dick of Casper, Wyoming, and Marguerite Wichmann and her husband Charles of Dubuque, Iowa; her daughter-in-law, Sue Dusterhoft of Lone Tree, Iowa; her grandchildren, Judy David, Kathy Meyer, John Wichmann, Dennis Wichmann, Jason Dusterhoft, Brian Dusterhoft, Ed Sadler, Dick Sadler, Connie Sadler, Ronnie Dusterhoft, Mark Dusterhoft, Tom Dusterhoft, and Julie Kretzschman; and several great grandchildren. Mary passed away quietly on Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at Lantern Park Nursing Home in Coralville, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Clarence; her son Paul in 1999; and her brothers Jimmy, Leo, and Bill Keenan.
