Mary was born on April 20, 1918, near Sully, Iowa to John and Mae Flanagan Schmitz. The family moved to Grinnell following the death of her father and her mother married Leo Donohoe. She attended Grinnell schools and graduated with the class of 1935 from Grinnell High School. She worked for the former Merchants National Bank and Poweshiek National Bank and retired in 1983 as a Vice President for the Brenton Bank of Grinnell. Mary was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and she served on the parish council and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the National Association of Bank Women, Grinnell Regional Medical Center's auxiliary and was past chairperson of the Poweshiek County Business and Professional Women's Club. She is survived by her siblings, Eileen Larsen, Donald Donohoe and Betty Heishman, all of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father.
