Obituary

Marvin A. Wilson, 82, of Grinnell, IA passed away January 6, 2025, at UnityPoint Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 15 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Community Church, 511 6th Ave, Grinnell, Iowa. Following the service lunch will be served at the Grinnell Eagles, 616 4th Ave, Grinnell, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made payable to APDA (American Parkinson Disease Association) Iowa Chapter, mailed in c/o Kandy Wilson, 615 Marvin Ave, Grinnell, IA 50112.

Marvin was born on July 31, 1942, to Charles Martin and Mirza (Smith) Wilson in Cresco, IA. Marvin was the only one of his seven siblings to be born in Iowa. His family moved all around the country for his father's work.

On December 18, 1971, Marvin was united in marriage to Kandy Hamilton at the First Baptist Church in Grinnell, IA.

After serving in the Army, Marvin worked at Maytag retiring after 30 years. After his retirement from Maytag, Marvin worked at DeLongs Sportswear, Grinnell Herald Register and the Penny Saver.

Marvin enjoyed fishing, doing wood working and word find puzzles. He and Kandy enjoyed travelling across the US, especially their trips to California and New York.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Kandy; his god daughters, Melissa Hines, and Angela Hines; his god grandsons, Jacoby Hines, Austin Hines, Dakota Lisk, Dolton Hogan, Skylar Nevitt, and Jacob Pickens; his brothers, Ron Wilson, Maurice Wilson, Rollie Wilson, and Kenneth (Shirley) Wilson, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded by his parents; his siblings, Zinia Phillips, Francis Lord and Charles Wilson; and his sisters-in-laws: Barb Wilson, Sharon Wilson, and Judy Wilson.
