Memorials: Jasper County Hospice, 204 ' North 4th Avenue East, Newton, Iowa 50208. Marvin was born on November 10, 1927 in Sully, Iowa to Rennier Dieleman and Sarah VanderLeest. He was raised and educated in Sully. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy during World War II, where he served with Sub Group One, Texas Group, Atlantic Reserve Fleet, and he also served during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Minnie Septer on June 16, 1954 in Sully, Iowa. Following their marriage, he worked for the Propane Gas Company in Sully. He later farmed for twenty-nine years in the Searsboro area. In the spring of 1991, the couple moved to Grinnell. He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sully, the Christian Church in Grinnell, and the American Legion in Grinnell. He dearly loved his family and he held a passion for farming. His enjoyments included square dancing, go cart racing, going to Hy-Vee for breakfast and then meeting the guys in the afternoon for coffee, and visiting with his neighbors. Marvin is survived by his daughter, Jane (Jim) Simbro of Grinnell; his grandchildren, Janette (Garry) Boender of Ottumwa, IA, Lynnette Simbro of West Des Moines, IA, Melissa (James) Owens of Grinnell, Kurtis (Amanda) Johnston of Dillon, CO; his great grandchildren, Dustin (Ashley) Hicks of Ottumwa, Heidi Williams of Ottumwa, Morgan Materne of Dillon, Blake Owens of Grinnell; his great great grandson, Gavin Hicks of Ottumwa; his sisters, Jeanetta VanderKamp of Newton, Erma (Wendell) VanderPloeg of West Bloom, MI; his brother, Clarence Dieleman of Rock Hill, SC; several nieces and nephews; and his many friends. Marvin entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 in the Monarch Wing of Skiff Medical Center in Newton. He was 83 years of age and he was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Minnie; his daughter Jean Johnston; his sisters, Velma VanderKamp, Margaretta Bullington, Helen VanderZyl; and his brothers, Harold and Clifford Dieleman.
