Mark Alan Kivett was born on June 29, 1970, in Marshalltown, IA, the son of Leroy and Anna Lee Kivett. He graduated from LDF High School with the class of 1988. He continued his education at Marshalltown Community College, where he participated on the golf team, and later received his bachelor's degree from Iowa State University. Mark was employed with Musco Lighting as a credit manager, a career spanning twenty-one years. On May 4, 1996, Mark married Allison Wilkens, and to this union the couple were blessed with three children: Baylee, Gracee, and Brody.

One of Mark's greatest passions in life was athletics. He excelled at LDF High School, where he led his basketball team to a state tournament his senior year as the starting point guard, helped his golf team place third in state, and was a top batter on LDF's baseball team. Throughout his life Mark enjoyed coaching. Mark coached his daughter's youth basketball teams, was an assistant coach on the Grinnell girl's basketball team, and head coach of the Grinnell girl's golf team. Mark loved cheering on his Pittsburgh Steelers, Iowa Hawkeyes, and Chicago Cubs.

Most of all, Mark's family meant the world to him. He loved his children more than anything, they were the love of his life. Mark was beyond proud of their accomplishments and rooted for them all of his life.

Mark is survived by his children, Baylee (Seth) Signs, Gracee (Luke Roudabush) Kivett, and Brody Kivett; his siblings, Mike (Patty) Kivett, and Lee Ann Magel; his nieces and nephews, Jared (Amy) Nichols, and their children Graham and Remi, Matt (Sarah) Kivett, John Kivett, and Kayla Kivett.
