Mark Reginold Davis, of Grinnell, IA, died on Monday, March 10, 2025, at UnityPoint Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

Mark was born on June 3, 1950, in Centerville, IA, to Joe R. and Martha L. (Andeway) Davis. He graduated from Seymour High School in 1968 and later attended the Iowa Department of Public Safety Academy, graduating in 1973.

On August 29, 1970, Mark married Joanne Janicke at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville. They made their home in Centerville and Plano before settling in Brooklyn in 1973. Mark dedicated 32 years of service to the Iowa State Patrol, serving the state with honor until his retirement as a Sargeant in 2005.

Mark was a devoted father who instilled discipline and integrity in his children, values he carried from his time as a State Trooper. As a grandfather, his love deepened, and he cherished attending or listening to his grandchildren's activities. Some of his fondest memories were working the Iowa State Fair as a trooper, fishing in Canada, duck hunting with friends, coaching his daughter in softball and spending time with his grandkids. A favorite past-time was socializing on his porch, sharing conversations with family and friends.

Mark attended Madison Church of Christ and United Presbyterian Church of Brooklyn, and was a member of the Freemasons.

He is survived by his children, Kimberly (Ryan) Dodd of Grinnell, IA, and Russell Davis of Conroe, TX; grandchildren Preston Dodd of Des Moines, IA, and Gretta Dodd of Grinnell, IA; and siblings Jamison (Tammy) Davis of Promise City, IA, and JoLinda (Allan) Schlesselman of Parnell, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Joanne.

A funeral service with Masonic Rites is scheduled for 10:30 AM, Friday, March 14, 2025, at Smith Funeral Home – Grinnell, IA. A luncheon will immediately follow the service at Smith Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, March 14 at Jones Cemetery, Wayne County, IA. Family will greet friends at the visitation held from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Thursday, March 13 at Smith Funeral Home – Grinnell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
