Marjorie Vivian Dannen Stewart was born on March 23, 1928, to John and Frieda Dannen, in Laurel Iowa. She graduated from Rhodes High School. She then married Robert L. In 1954 they moved to Port Angeles, Washington, but returned to Gilman in 1963, where they were truly at home. Through those early years they had three children: Paula, Janine, and Lee Ann. Additionally known as an excellent cook, she was popular for the food served at Bob's, the tavern owned by her husband. Marjorie's skill shined in her lifelong affinity for card games, especially bridge. She achieved the rank of Regional Master through her membership in the American Contract Bridge League, and was a longtime member of the Marshall Duplicate Bridge Club. She thoroughly enjoyed the members of the club, and always looked forward to their weekly meetings. She also enjoyed reading, and watching college basketball, especially the Iowa State Cyclones. In the summer, she loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals baseball games. She was a member of the Gilman Ladies American Legion Auxiliary, and the Marshalltown Women's Legion Golf Association. In later years Marjorie enjoyed traveling with her daughters, with trips to Washington state, Louisiana, and Minnesota, among the highlights.
