She had always lived in Grinnell, except for a short time in Missouri, attended Grinnell High School and raised her family here. She was married to Richard Earl "Dick" Clark on October 10, 1949 in Grinnell. Dick and Marilyn were married young, worked hard and stuck together through many years to build a strong and loving marriage celebrated by a 60th anniversary dance and party in 2009. Suffering from Alzheimer's the last years of her life, Marilyn adapted to living at the Grinnell Health Care Center supported by family and with her husband, Dick, a daily morning visitor, always bringing her coffee and making the best of sharing the long good-bye. Marilyn was a high energy person who liked to dance to country and western music and was always a hard worker. She was employed by DeLong and Sons for many years and also did the books for Wilson and Clark and later Clark Brothers Painting Service. Marilyn was a great cook and loved her four children, eleven grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Spending time with friends and her family and camping with husband, Dick, were favorite activities. She was a kind-hearted and friendly person, who loved animals as well as people, especially her pet dog, Sissy, who loved Marilyn's cooking which sustained her for 19 years. Survivors include her husband, Dick of Grinnell; her children, Linda (Ray) Hunter of Kellogg, Carla (Denny) Rankin of Lineville, and Patty Clark Arment of Grinnell; her sisters, Mary Arthur and Sharon (Keith) Koger, of Grinnell; and her daughter-in-law, Kathy Clark of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Gayle (Max) Chedister; her son, Richard (Dickie) Lewis Clark; and a granddaughter, Sara Rankin Walkup.
