Margaret E. Galinsky, 93 of Grinnell died August 15, 2009, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell. A graveside service and burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 22, at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell with the Rev. Raymond C. Lott, retired, officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Margaret E. Galinsky Memorial Fund. Margaret was born December 24, 1915, in Linneus, Missouri, the daughter of Irvin Kelley and Nellie Maude Stanard Brown. She lived in Linneus and moved to Grinnell in 1925. She was a 1933 graduate of Grinnell High School, a 1937 graduate of Grinnell College, and did some graduate studies at the University of Chicago. In 1945, she was married to Tony Smith in Reno, Nevada, and the couple lived in Reno for a few months prior to moving to Chicago. They were later divorced and she lived in Grinnell and then Des Moines. She was married to Eli Galinsky in 1966 in Bethany, Missouri, and the couple continued living in Des Moines. She was employed as a medical secretary including working for 10 years at the College of Osteopathic Medicine in Des Moines. She was later divorced from her husband, and after she retired in 1983, she returned to Grinnell. Margaret was a member of the American Association of University Women and the National Secretary Association. She held a passion for glamour and fashion, and enjoyed always wanting to look her very best. Survivors include her daughter, April Gamboa of Grinnell; two grandchildren, Jason Miller of Ottumwa and Matthew Gamboa, of Palo Alto, California; and four great-grandchildren, Johnny, Brady, Michael, and Sonja. She was preceded in death by her parents.
