Margaret M. "Maggie" Ashford, age 73 of Grinnell, died on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at UnityPoint Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Grinnell with Fr. Ross Epping presiding. Interment will follow at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

Margaret was born the daughter of William and Marie (Molitor) Ashford on December 13, 1946 in Omaha, Nebraska. She was raised in Omaha and later in Bismarck, North Dakota, where she graduated from Priory High School in 1965. She received a BA degree from Barat College in Lake Forest, Illinois.
For over twenty-five years, Maggie worked as a computer software consultant with various employers and traveled throughout the United States. She was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Grinnell.
Maggie was an active volunteer of the Poweshiek County Democratic Party and the Break Thru Foundation, which cares for at-risk youth in San Francisco, California. Her most memorable trips were to Ireland in 1999 and to the 1972 Olympics in Munich, Germany. Maggie will be remembered for her kindness, her generosity and efforts in helping others, and for her love of traveling.
Maggie is survived by her cousins, Mike (Susan) Thorndike of Grinnell and Tom (Mary Lou) Kuhlman of Omaha, Nebraska; goddaughter, Christine (Matt) Dumuch of Chicago, Illinois; and good friend, Connie Kammandel of Omaha. She was preceded in death by her parents.
