Marcus D. Hudson passed away the evening of November 16, 2015 at the Mayflower Health Center. He was surrounded by family throughout his courageous journey of his illness. Marc was born in Knoxville, Iowa, and spent his youthful years in Centerville...he knew every gravel road in the county and then some, having long standing friendships that comforted him and brought him laughter during this past year. He graduated from the U of Iowa with a BS/BA and those years, along with family experiences from his grandparents, gave him lifelong tools: he was a social worker, a laborer, a weekend carpenter and mechanic. The last several years, Marc worked at Key Co-Op and would boast he knew every farmers dog in the county. Mark Twain was his favorite author and it would be proper to note Marc would say..."if there are no dogs in heaven, when I die, I want to go where they went". Marc is survived by his wife, Rhonda; stepdaughter, Dr. Jennifer Paisley (Ty Young); granddaughter, Emma Lucille; his best friend and father, Maurice Hudson; and his kid sister, Lauralee Hudson (Vernon Selvy). Marc was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Juanita Hudson. In lieu of flowers, cards, Marc's family would encourage random acts of kindness. If there are donations, please think of PALS in Grinnell and the Mayflower Activity Department for purchase of bird seed. Mark Twain writes, "Life is short. Break the rules. Forgive quickly. Kiss slowly. Love truly, laugh uncontrollably and never regret anything that makes you smile." A Celebration of Marc's life is scheduled for Friday, December 4, 2015 in the Carman Center at the Mayflower Community. Visitation and reception will be from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, with the service being at 2:30pm, and all are welcomed.
