Maggie Lee Foster, age 84, of Kellogg, died Sunday, September 19, 2004 at her home. A funeral service for Maggie will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, September, 23 at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Rev. Mike Johnson officiating. Casket bearers will be Andrew Brown, Randy Holmes, Michael Hutchinson, Junior Sharp, John Streeter, and John Sumner. Interment will be at Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg. Visitation hours will be held from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be directed to the Kellogg Historical Society or to Grinnell Regional Hospice. Maggie was born the daughter of Aught and Mollie Delk Stepp on March 14, 1920 in Monticello, Kentucky. She was raised and educated in Monticello, Kentucky and rural schools in Jasper County, Iowa. Maggie was united in marriage to LeRoy W. Foster on July 3, 1950 at the United Methodist Church in Montezuma. Maggie enjoyed fishing, from the mountains of Wyoming to a small farm pond in Iowa. Her family was the love of her life. She enjoyed traveling, while her health allowed her to do so. Her most memorable trips were her two trips to Hawaii and the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah. Maggie enjoyed attending estate sales and auctions looking for various antiques and treasures. She loved to be outdoors taking care of her flower garden and yard. Maggie is survived by her daughters, Faye Cortright Hutchinson and her husband Larry of Gilbert, Arizona, Sue Cortright Streeter of Ames, Iowa, Cynthia Foster Brown and her husband Michael of Rock Springs, Wyoming, and Mollie Foster Sumner and her husband Charles of Kellogg, Iowa; her brother, Floyd Stepp of Grinnell; her sister, Flonnie Stepp Matherly of Grinnell; her fifteen grandchildren; her eleven great grandchildren; and her several nieces and nephews. Maggie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband LeRoy; her daughter Judith Cortright Doane; her brother, Menvil Stepp; her sisters, Della Stepp, Pearl Stepp Clifton; and an infant sister.
