She was born on Friday, November 13, 1921, to Arthur and Laurine Benson Olson at home in the Jacob Switch neighborhood southeast of Grinnell. Lucille went to country school before moving to Grinnell and attending Grinnell Junior and Senior High School where she graduated with the Class of 1939.

She married her high school sweetheart, LaVerne "Revy" Reavis, on September 11, 1945. She was proud of the 7th Avenue home that Revy and his dad, Turner, built. They welcomed their son, Randall Reavis, in 1956.

Lucille and Revy had many friends and led an active social life, including get-togethers with family and friends and dances at the Elks Lodge in Grinnell. Lucille was close with her extended family, and she and Revy hosted large Thanksgiving gatherings at their home for many years.

Lucille was employed at several Grinnell businesses including the office of the Glove Factory, the Iowa Telephone-Telegraph Company, Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company, St. Francis Hospital, Grinnell College, and Wilcox Garland Furniture. She was an active member of several civic and social groups, including NARFE, the VFW Auxiliary, Lady Elks, Sunset Club, the United Methodist Church in Grinnell, bank tour trips, and serving as a Cub Scout Den Mother. In 2008, Lucille was honored with the first ever NARFE National Distinguished Membership Award for her decades of service to the organization.

She will be remembered for keeping an exceedingly clean home, her strong sense of civic duty, and her unwavering loyalty to family and friends. Her granddaughters were her greatest joy.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; siblings Marlyn "Ole" Olson and Betty Jean Berry; nephew Jim Olson; and niece Janet Berry.

She is survived by her son Randy (Jean) Reavis of Grinnell; granddaughters Ericca (Joe Kellner) Reavis of Chicago and Veronica (Chase) Timmons of Muscatine; great grandson Ivan LaVerne Timmons; nieces Linda Manly of Oseola and Ellen (Mark) Van Der Veer of Montezuma; and nephews Don Berry and Tom Berry of Montezuma.
