Obituary

Lori Montgomery, age 53, of Grinnell, walked through the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, April 3, 2013. With family by her side at Grinnell Regional Medical Center, Lori took the journey from her earthly body to go dance with Jesus, something she had shared she was so excited to do. A celebration of her life will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 6, 2013, at the Grinnell Christian Church. Interment will be in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the Smith Funeral Home. Her family will be present to greet friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorials can be designated to (her grandson) Lannon B. Montgomery College Fund, sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. Lori was born the daughter of Ronald and Erma (Moore) Curry on May 19, 1959, in Grinnell, Iowa. She was raised in Grinnell and graduated from Grinnell High School with the class of 1977. Lori was an inspiration to all who knew her. Her strength and positive attitude touched the lives of everyone she met. Lori's life revolved around her family, as they were her everything. On race day, she could be found watching NASCAR, cheering on Bill Elliott or Dale Earnhardt. (Imagine her delight to be racing a lap around Heaven with Earnhardt!) Lori lived for days warm enough to get outside and "soak up the sun" - one of her favorite activities. If she couldn't get outside, she could most likely be found watching basketball or football. She loved sports and enjoyed cheering on Iowa sports teams. Lori is survived by her son, Justin (Crystal) Montgomery of Lynnville, Iowa; her grandson, Lannon Montgomery of Lynnville; her parents, Ron and Erma Curry of Grinnell; and two sisters, Rhonda (Jim) Failor of Montezuma, Iowa and Kim (John) Huth of Searsboro, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Fred and Vera Curry; her maternal grandparents, Mose and Gladys Moore; and her great nephew, Carson.
