Funeral services for Mrs. Baustian were held 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 6, 2004, at the First Baptist Church in Grinnell with the Rev. Tim Stewart officiating. Organist was her daughter, Denise Baustian and vocalist was Terry Osborne. Pallbearers were Lyle and Marvin Beck, Chris Gritsch, Ron Lang, Howard Raffety, and Ken Saunders. Honorary bearers were Keith Branian, Dean Douglas, Ralph Fleener, Darwin Kinne, John LaKose, Eugene Lang, Lawrence Sleewenhoek and David Steffen. Burial was in Ivy Hill Cemeter in Malcom. Memorial contributions may be directed to Malcom First Responders, Grinnell First Baptist Church, and Malcom Cemetery Association. The daughter of William and Sylvia Tish Foster, Lola was born March 7, 1918, in Grinnell. She was raised in the area and was a 1936 graduate of Grinnell High School. She was married to George Baustian February 20, 1955, at the First Baptist Church in Grinnell. The couple farmed near Malcom for many years and she also worked as a homemaker. She was an active member of the Grinnell First Baptist Church, and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Malcom Garden Club, and River Road Club. Lola is survived by her daughter, Denise Baustian of Malcom, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Sylva Tish Foster; her husband George Baustian in 2003; and her sister, Gladys Stowe in 2004.
