She attended Brooklyn and Hartwick schools and graduated from Hartwick High School in 1937. She was united in marriage to Abel Francis Doty on November 14, 1948 at the Hartwick Congregational Church. To this union four children were born, Sandy, Becky, Donna, and Patti. Their marriage ended in divorce.
