Linda Van Ersvelde, of Montezuma, Iowa, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024, at the age of 75 following a battle with health issues.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell, Iowa. A graveside service will immediately follow the service in Brooklyn, Iowa at Calvary Cemetery (807 E Green St, Brooklyn, IA 52211).

She is survived by her daughter, Diane RaPue (Todd RaPue), grandchildren Nathaniel and Gabriel RaPue, brother Larry Van Ersvelde (Gini Van Ersvelde), brother William "Bill" Van Ersvelde (Mary Van Ersvelde), and sister Carol Scott (Van Ersvelde) (Steve Scott), multiple nephews, and numerous extended family members.

Linda Van Ersvelde was born on January 31, 1949, in Grinnell, Iowa. She grew up in and around Brooklyn, Iowa, on two farms, as the second oldest of four children to John and Dorothy Van Ersvelde. She graduated from Brooklyn-Guernsey-Malcom (BGM) High School in 1967. Linda married James "Jim" McMullin on January 11, 1969. They welcomed their only daughter, Diane RaPue (McMullin), on October 12, 1970, while living in Colorado. Linda and Jim McMullin divorced on May 21, 1975. Linda received her Nurse Aide / Orderly Training Certificate in 1976. Linda married Robert "Bob" Heishman in September 1977. She received a Bachelor of Square-Dancing certificate in April 1979. Linda and Bob Heishman divorced in November 1992. She lived in Grinnell, Iowa, after her divorce, until moving to assisted living in March 2023.

Linda was a daughter, sister, aunt, wife, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a happy, loving, friendly, helpful, and caring person. Linda was lots of fun to be around. She brought light and laughter into this world.

Linda will be deeply missed by many. She was loved by all who knew her.
