Obituary

Linda Patten, 72, of Grinnell died April 28, 2014, at the Mayflower Community from complications due to Alzheimer's. A celebration of life gathering has been scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 2, at the Grinnell Eagles Club. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Linda Patten Memorial Fund. Linda was born February 17, 1942, in Brooklyn, Iowa to John and Della Smith Patten. She received her education in the Grinnell School District. She was married to Larry Snider in Grinnell. She lived in Cedar Rapids, Chicago and several communities in California and Arizona. She returned to Grinnell in 1995. She was employed at several places throughout her life including Miracle Recreation, the Eagles Club, DeLongs, Wenco and Friendship Manor. Linda loved her family and at times worked two jobs to care for them. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening, camping and fishing. She spent a lot of time remodeling and furnishing her home on Broad Street. Survivors include her son, Doug Snider of Waterloo; five sisters, Lila McCammant of Grinnell, Anna Belle Robison of Des Moines, Donna Collum of DeWitt, Patricia Clark of Kellogg and Nancy (Carl) Tebbenhoff of Dupo, Illinois; two brothers, Ed (Jeanie) Patten of Lebanon, Missouri and Jim (Kathy) Patten of Holiday Lake; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Della Patten; two sisters, Doralding Edstrom and Norma Wilson; one brother, Wayne Patten; and one daughter, Rebbeca Dayton.
