Obituary

Linda Parmley, 64, of Gilman died November 5, 2014 at her home of natural causes. A graveside service and burial are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 11, at Prairie View Cemetery in Gilman with Rev. John Epperson of Grinnell officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be directed to PALS in Grinnell or the Gilman First Responders. Linda was born December 24, 1949, in Grinnell, the daughter of Vursel and Cecil Messer Parmley. She lived in Grinnell and later moved with her family to Gilman in 1953. She was a 1968 graduate of Gilman High School. Following her education she lived in Brooklyn and worked for Manatt's Inc. for several years. In 1977, she returned to Gilman and began her career, a span of 37 years, at the Citizens Savings Bank where she was employed as a teller and various other positions within the bank. She was a devoted employee and considered a joy to work with. Linda was very passionate about animals and enjoyed helping others, she was a Good Samaritan! She held a love for music, particularly the Beatles and enjoyed reading and watching movies. She was very artistic and enjoyed making jewelry and showing her work at arts and crafts fairs. Survivors include several nieces and nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jack and Tom Parmley; and one sister, Mary Barker.
