Lillie was born on December 25, 1907, on the family farm near Sigourney, Iowa, to Denver and Emma Hutton. She attended rural school and graduated from Martinsburg High School in 1924.
On December 30, 1925, she was married to Elmer Andrew Green in Keokuk County, Iowa. The couple farmed in Keokuk and Poweshiek Counties. Following the death of her husband in 1960 she moved to Grinnell in 1961. She was a library assistant at Burling Library on the campus of Grinnell College from 1961 to 1973. From 1973 to 1984, she worked at Stewart Library in Grinnell as a library assistant.
Lillie attended the First Baptist Church in Grinnell and was a member of the Ruth Circle of the church. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, reading, crocheting, baking and spending time in her yard.
Survivors include one son, Hubert (Harriet) Green of Englewood, Ohio; two daughters, Maxine (Harold) Mouchka and Betty (Carroll) Gerard, all of Grinnell; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and nine great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Grace Davis and Icel Veldhuizen; and five brothers, Virgil, Harold Glen, Roscoe and Jim Hutton.
