Lewis Eugene
Morrison
March 4, 1944 – November 3, 2023
Lewis Eugene "Gene" Morrison, 79, died on Friday, November 3, 2023 at home in Grinnell, Iowa.
Gene was born on March 4, 1944 in Grinnell, Iowa, to Lewis and Mildred (Lamb) Morrison. Gene attended Grinnell public schools and enjoyed a long successful career as a mechanic in Grinnell working for several repair shops, and then serving his neighbors by running his own business, Gene's Auto Repair, until retiring.
Gene married Beverly Crawford on June 8, 1963. They were married for 29 years. They were blessed with three children: a daughter, Teresa Lynn, and two sons, Craig Eugene and Kent Curtis.
Gene was always willing to help a friend. He would do anything he could from mechanic services, to a place to stay, or share a few beers and just listen. He had a quick wit and a great sense of humor, and loved to share jokes and stories with everyone. He was beyond proud of his grandchildren and loved to watch them in all of their activities, even mastering streaming technology to watch.
Gene is survived by his sons Craig (Stephanie) Morrison of Grimes, Iowa, and Kent (Janelle) Morrison of Des Moines, Iowa, and his three grandchildren, Connor, Jenna and Emily. Also surviving Gene is his sister, Betty Reams, of Spokane, Washington, numerous nieces and nephews, and many close friends including Pat & Wanda White & their son Travis, Jim Fenner, Bob Stewart, Tony Emry and his son Austin Emry.
He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Teresa, his parents, sister Marie Raber and brother David Morrison.
Cremation has taken place at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. An open house in Celebration of Gene's life will be held Sunday, November 19, 2023 from 1:00-3:00 pm in the 4-H Exhibit building at the Poweshiek County Fairgrounds (425 E St S, Grinnell, IA 50112).
