Obituary

Leslie was born on August 10, 1938, in Newton, Iowa to Vernon and Lucille Hann Rasmussen. He was raised in Newton and graduated from Newton High School with the Class of 1956. Following his education he moved to Centerville and worked as a sales representative. On November 16, 1963, he was married to Maxine Kaisand in Newton. The couple lived in Oskaloosa before moving to Colorado Springs in 1969. He worked as a sales representative for the Flaks Whole Sale Company until his retirement. He returned to Iowa and lived in Gilman and Newton before moving to Windsor Manor in Grinnell. Leslie enjoyed fishing, coin collecting and country music. He was an avid fan of the Colorado Rockies and the Denver Broncos. Survivors include his son, Rick (Janneke) Rasmussen of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one daughter, Michelle (Kevin) Hobbs of Gilman; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one brother, Ed Rasmussen of Newton; and one sister, Anna Carlson of Ames. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one brother, Roger Rasmussen. Memorials may be directed to Iowa Hospice and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112.
