Laurie Rummelhart, 60, of Newton, IA, died on Tuesday, January 28, 2023, at MercyOne Medical Center in Newton.

A private family service will be held on Friday, June 16, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Iowa City with the Rev. Steve Witt officiating.

Laurie was born the daughter of Melvin Claire Rummelhart and Lillian Joan (Littrell) Rummelhart on August 17, 1962 in Iowa City, Iowa. She was raised in Iowa City.

Following a health condition, Laurie resided at Glenwood State Hospital for several years before moving to Progress Industries in Newton. She will be remembered for being ornery, for her love of going on car rides, for laughing with her nieces and nephews, and for her favorite foods, M&M's and Lucky Charms cereal.

Laurie is survived by her mother, Lillian Rummelhart of Newton; her sisters, Deb (Gary) Clinch of Colfax, IA, Deannie (John) Hoyt of Trinity, FL, Julie (Greg) McManus of Buffalo Prairie, IL, and Missy (Gene) Hauser of Ankeny, IA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Rummelhart; and her sister, Susie Rummelhart.
