Dwight was born on May 26, 1947, in Chariton, Iowa, to Lawrence C. and Norma (Halls) Niday. He spent his younger years in Humeston before moving to Carlisle, where he graduated from high school. He went on to attend Drake University, earning a degree in Business Administration.

On July 29, 1972, Dwight was united in marriage to Betty Cooper. The couple made their home in Grinnell, where they raised their two sons, Jeff and Joel. Dwight dedicated his career to GTE and Iowa Telecom, where he worked as a supply director. In retirement he enjoyed socializing with colleagues and friends over coffee.

Dwight had a deep love for sports and enjoyed golfing with friends, coaching basketball and little league baseball, and bowling. He was a loyal fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and found enjoyment in quieter pastimes such as puzzles, reading, and watching westerns. Dwight had a passion for classic cars and took pride in caring for his mustang and attending local car shows.

Above all, Dwight was a devoted family man. He was known for his strong work ethic, punctual nature, and steady presence. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Dwight is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty; his sons, Jeff (Megan) Niday and Joel Niday; his bonus daughter, Stacy Neighbors; his brother, Ed Niday; his grandchildren, Kassie Neighbors, Colton Niday, and Zachary (Emma) Innis; his great-grandchildren, Arianna and Evan Burrell; a sister-in-law, Colleen Niday; and his beloved cats, Trouble and Mischief.
