LaRae Blankenship, 56, of Cedar Rapids, died on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at her home, with her family by her side. A private family gathering is planned for later next summer. LaRae was born on November 15, 1962, in Cherokee, Iowa, the daughter of Gary Patterson and Joan Gryp. She was a 1981 graduate of HLV High School in Victor. LaRae enjoyed playing games, putting puzzles together, watching scary movies, and she loved to travel with her mom. Most of all, she loved her grandkids and spending time with them. LaRae is survived by her children, Jerry Blankenship of Hartwick, Rachel (Justin) Hansen of Malcom, Chase Blankenship of Tennessee; her mother, Joan Gryp of Cedar Rapids, her father, Gary (Priscilla) Patterson of Oregon; her siblings, Donnie Collins, Jim Collins, Ronnie Collins; her grandchildren, Mackinze Blankenship, Cheyleigh Blankenship, Dante Hansen, A'Rhianna Hansen, Parker Blankenship and Tyson Hansen. She was preceeded in death by her grandparents, William and Rosella Boothby; her siblings, Robert Collins and Robin Collins; her step father, David Gryp.
