Kimberly Jo Hanson, 62, of Grinnell died on July 21, 2022, at her home of natural causes. A Celebration of Life gathering has been scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Monday, July 25, at the Arbor Lake Shelter House in Grinnell. Memorial contributions may be designated to the family of Kimberly Jo Hanson and mailed in c/o the Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. Kim was born on December 27, 1959, in Newton, Iowa, the daughter of Norman W. and Deloris F. Banks VanderLeest. She was raised on her parent's farm near Sully and was a 1978 graduate of Lynnville-Sully High School. While in high school she was active in the school newspaper. She was married to Kevin Hanson and they were together for 32 years. They made their home in Grinnell. Kim was employed as a screen printer at DeLong's Sportswear in Grinnell for many years. Kim loved the outdoors, fishing, and camping. She loved animals! She enjoyed traveling, socializing with family and friends, and roller skating. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed her many friendships. Kim is survived by her husband, Kevin of Grinnell; her daughter, Amber Lyn VanderLeest of Spencer; her parents, Norman and Deloris of Sully; three grandchildren, Christopher, Marly, and Chaelynn VanderLeest; and one sister, Kelley Zuidema of Sully.
