An avid fisherman, Kevin Russell Lennie, age 55, has gone to hook bigger fish in ponds and lakes up yonder. He picked up his pole, jumped on his bike and said, "see ya later." Born at home in Tama, Iowa on August 15, 1966 to Eugene Thomas and Marlis Jane Smith-Lennie, he was the youngest of 8 children. He passed away on Sunday, Mar 6, 2022 while under the care of hospice at Grinnell Health Care in Grinnell, Iowa. Per his wishes he will be cremated and his ashes laid to rest in the Hazelwood Cemetery, Grinnell, Iowa. Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell are attending to the needs of Kevin and his family. Kevin married Christina Louise Lamb on August 18, 2004 at Otter Creek Lake in Toledo, Iowa. They later divorced but remained close friends. No children were born to this union but Kevin does have one daughter, Amanda Irene Thomas-Lennie-Raider who lives in Richmond, Ky. Preceding Kevin in death are his parents and 2 sisters, Sandra Jean Mitchell-Pierce and Debbie Sue Lennie. He is survived by 3 sisters, Cheryl L. Bowden, Cottage Grove, Or., Candie L. Howell, Coppock, Ia. and Dawn R. Vest of Nixa, Missouri. Also surviving are 2 brothers, Eugene T. Lennie Jr., Luzerne, Ia. and Bruce W. Lennie, St. Cloud, Mn. Kevin's daughter, Amanda and his grand children Hayden and Patience also survive him as well as his former wife, Christina Lamb of Grinnell. The family would like to thank the staffs at Grinnell hospice, Grinnell Health Care and Grinnell Regional Medical Center for their kind and professional care of Kevin.
