Kenneth R. Eggman, age 89, of Grinnell, died on Sunday, June 21, 2020 at his home at Seeland Park in Grinnell under the care of Grinnell Regional Hospice.
A private family graveside service with military honors will take place at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

Kenneth Raymond Eggman was born the son of Carl and Jessie (Hurd) Eggman on September 24, 1930 in Louisville, Kentucky. Ken enlisted in the U.S. Army where he honorably served his country during the Korean war.
Ken pursued many professions throughout his life notably as a locomotive engineer with the Boone Railroad, stockcar racing driver and professional photographer for the Brooklyn Chronicle. Ken worked with the Poweshiek Water Association until his retirement. In addition, Ken was a campground host at various National Parks.
Ken held a passion for travelling which included several trips to Alaska. While visiting Arizona he met Mary Knapp, the manager of the Casita Verde RV Park, the two maintained a friendship for years before reconnecting. The couple were united in marriage on March 7, 2018, they were blessed with two wonderful years together and many memories including a memorable trip to Dollywood. Ken will be remembered for his generosity towards others. His contributions to the St. Francis Manor and the Grinnell Regional Hospital have left meaningful and lasting impacts on the Grinnell community.
Ken is survived by his wife, Mary Eggman of Grinnell; children, Reath Snyder of Dixon, CA, Vicky Gronewold of East Peoria, IL, Cheri (George) O'Brien of Princeton, MN, Kenneth Eggman, Jr. of Destin, FL and Lisa (David) Bowers of Mason City, IA; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and close friend Rosie Schrack of Grinnell. He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Roger Eggman; wives, Betty Brice and Verleen Brooks; siblings, Luther and Florence Eggman; and one son-in-law, Mark Gronewold.
