March 25, 1965 – July 11, 2023
Ken Kriegel, 58, of Victor, died at his home on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 surrounded by his children and loving partner under the care of Essence of Life Hospice.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 15, 2023 at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Brooklyn. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Brooklyn. A luncheon will follow at St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Visitation with the family present will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday at the Manatt Community Center in Brooklyn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated in his name and checks should be made payable to his daughter, Angel Dahlgren and mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 485, Victor, Iowa 52347. Memories and condolences may be shared with Ken's family online at www.smithfh.com.
Kenneth Edward Kriegel was born the son of Louis Edward Kriegel and Maribea Dixie (Johnson) Kriegel on March 25, 1965 in Grinnell, Iowa. He was raised on an acreage near Montezuma, Iowa and was educated at Brooklyn and Montezuma schools respectively. He graduated from Montezuma High School with the class of 1983, then attended Lincoln Tech in Des Moines.
Following his education, he worked for Standard Oil gas station and the Dodge Garage in Grinnell. He then went on to work at Amana Refrigeration for almost 30 years. Ken enjoyed being outdoors, the Chicago Bears, playing pool, listening to country music, and playing the guitar. Ken was a proud father and grandfather who loved working with his brother and being with family and friends. He will be remembered for being a caring and loving person who was a great friend to all.
Ken is survived by his children, Angel Dahlgren of Belle Plaine, IA, Stacy Kriegel of Ft. Collins, CO, Louis (Kate) Kriegel of Altoona, IA, and Kenneth Kriegel II of Denver, CO; two grandchildren, Avery and Easton Dahlgren; his mother, Dixie Emerson of Deep River; his partner, Barbara Seaton of Victor; his siblings, Tammy (John) Adkins of Montezuma, Brenda (Dusty) Emerson of Deep River, Scott Kriegel of Keswick, IA, and Stacy (Jim) Schultz of Gibson, IA; and step-siblings, Debbie Jones of Deep River, Doug (Janet) Emerson of Marengo, and Diana (Tom) Morris of Lakeland, FL. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Kriegel in 1981; step-father, Harold Emerson; and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
