Kathy Ranae Bailey, 56, of Grinnell died on September 27, 2019 at her home, of natural causes. No services are planned. Memorial Contributions may be designated to the Kathy Bailey Memorial Fund, mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. Kathy was born on September 7, 1963, in Grinnell, the daughter of Martin Edward and Mary Louise (Arthur) Garr. She was raised in Grinnell and near Rock Creek and was a 1981 graduate of Grinnell High School. On May 21, 1983, she was united in marriage with William H. Bailey in Newburg; a union of 36 years of loving devotion. The couple continued farming the Bailey Family Farm until 1992. They moved to Grinnell in 1994 and to their current homestead in 2011. Kathy was a very loving mother and enjoyed raising her five children and being devoted to them and all their needs, as well as those of her grandchildren. Kathy loved to cook, and spent much of her time serving her family, and others in the kitchen. She loved being a homemaker and enjoyed being her husband's companion. She loved her family dearly. She is survived by her five children, Luke (Rebecca) Bailey of Lynnville, Molly (Dan) DeKorne of Grinnell, Jake (Elizabeth) Bailey of Carroll, Ben Bailey of Grinnell, and Hank (Emma) Bailey of Grinnell; nine grandchildren; and two siblings, Randy (Denise) Garr of Fenton, and Marla (Neil) Criswell of Titonka. She was preceded in death by her parents; one unborn child, and her husband, Bill on August 7, 2019.
