Kathryn Buckwalter, 101, of Victor passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2014, at the Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at the United Methodist Church in Victor with Pastor Jim Davis officiating.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home in Victor beginning 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday and the family will be present at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Interment will be at Victor Memorial Cemetery.

Kathryn was born on June 2, 1913, in rural Poweshiek County near Victor, Iowa to William and Mary Messer Buckwalter. She attended rural school in Poweshiek County prior to graduating from Victor High School in 1931. She continued her education at the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls.
Kathryn began her teaching career at a rural school in Poweshiek County. She also worked at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids and she was employed in several other jobs prior to her retirement from Amana Refrigeration in 1976.
Kathryn enjoyed sewing, baking, reading and was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes. She was a social person and enjoyed helping others. Kathryn will be deeply missed by her family and all that knew her.
Those left to cherish Kathryn's memory are her niece, Susan Grande; her three great nieces, Jennifer Melgaard, Erika Grande and Kristen Grande; two great nephews, Nicholas Waterbeck and Nathan Grande; two great-great nieces and two great-great nephews.
Kathryn is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Arlene Street and Edna Buckwalter.
