Kathleen Cline, age 85, of Grinnell, died on Wednesday, October 29th at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. A celebration of her life will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 3, 2014, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Pastor John Epperson officiating. Interment will be at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Smith Funeral Home and the family will be present to greet friends from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. Memorials may be designated to the Kathleen Cline Memorial Fund to benefit organizations of the family's choice and mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.smithfh.com. Kathleen was born on March 7, 1929, in Somerset, Kentucky to Thomas and Mary Etta Edwards Vaughn. She was raised in Grinnell and attended Grinnell schools. On December 26, 1946, she was united in marriage to Gerald Cline in Centerville, Iowa. The couple lived in Grinnell and she was employed at the Grinnell Shoe Company and Midwest Metal and Stamping Company in Kellogg. Kathleen was very proud of her family and treasured family events. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, her flowers and winters in Texas. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Gerald "Pete" Cline of Grinnell; her children, Terry (Lynn) Cline, Pam (Duane) McDonald, Randy Cline, all of Grinnell, Patty (Randy) Smith of Coralville, Cindy (Chad) Hauser of Grinnell and Michael (Karen) Cline of Farmington, Minnesota; 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren expected soon. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Thomas and Joe Vaughn; two sisters, Darlene Triplett and Mable Allison and one granddaughter, Terri Lynn Cline.
